What is love?

Love isn’t out there,
waiting to be found.

No gold,
buried in some mystical place,
deep in the ground.

No final X at the end
of a treasure hunt,
no prize to win,
no gift to give
nor to receive—
love is not to define
there is no name fitting to describe—

It’s energy in laughter,
in sadness, in warm hugs.
It’s presence
in all beauties of life—

In a baby’s smile,
the jumping of deer,
it shines in Christmas lights
and heartbreaking tears,
in questions,
in quiet understandings
and sadness of goodbyes.

It’s a tide,
constantly dancing –
unable to grasp,
unable to contain,
unable to define –

It’s in every small detail
and yet so overwhelmingly immense—
at the same time.

How can it be
within us
and around us,
in everything we see,
in everyone we meet—

Maybe—
love is not meant
for us to understand,
for us to define,
to rationalize,
to chase, or to find.

Maybe, just maybe,
once we stop searching—
close our eyes—

We can finally see.
We can finally stop
being afraid.

We are love,
all of us,
from the very first day
we entered this earth.

When we close our eyes,
we see – love is not something
to find.

It already arrived.

Word-doodled this down after a conversation with a flatmate yesterday.
